Android App UX Design Evolution
The Banno Mobile app on Android is going through a user experience (UX) design modernization to reflect Google’s Material Design 3 standards, while also enabling a high-performing and modern app experience that will feel more cohesive alongside the rest of the apps on Android devices.
To ensure a gradual migration to this new UX, Jack Henry is incrementally addressing portions of the app experience. Starting in Banno Mobile version 3.34 and onward, individual collections of screens and features will be upgraded to the new UX.
The sections below describe the changes expected with each release, providing a bird’s eye view of the progress to date and the progress still to come.
Mobile 3.29
ShippedReleased on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Banno Mobile 3.29 on Android included one significant UX design update – all screens throughout the app now conform to Google’s new 16 KB screen-size requirement, as seen in the example screenshot below.

Figure 1: Example screenshot of the new 16 KB screen-size. Note that this example includes placeholder text that accountholders will not see.
While preparing Mobile 3.29 for Android, our design and engineering teams were also conducting foundational research on the app’s existing template system:
- Audited current navigation patterns
- Assessed alignment with Material Design guidelines
- Evaluated where updates will best provide value
Mobile 3.30
ShippedSubmitted to the Play Store on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Banno Mobile 3.30 on Android included only minimal UX updates. Our team is still evaluating the future of how Banno Mobile will create and consume app themes on Android to fully align with Material 3 standards. Implementing this change ensures the app evolves seamlessly with future changes to Material.
Mobile 3.31
ShippedBanno Mobile 3.31 on Android shipped with minor design changes. Our team is hard at work internally laying out strategies for migration and internally addressing design, layout and theming concerns towards a cohesive new Material 3 experience.
Mobile 3.32 - 3.33
ShippedWe’re shifting our previously communicated timeline slightly — the UX design updates will now be coming in 3.34 and beyond.
Don’t worry, though; we’re still moving full steam ahead! By taking a little extra time to solidify the Material 3 foundation in 3.34, we’ll be well positioned to accelerate our momentum in the coming months.
Note that version 3.32 of our Android app has shipped, and we’re currently building version 3.33.
Mobile 3.34
ShippedExplorations for moving to Material 3 are nearing conclusion. Mobile 3.34 will mark the kickoff of our related updates. Conversion will involve a flow-based approach, with foundational work starting in the 3.34 release by generating a more neutral theme with the inclusion of the brand’s primary theme color (bodyTextThemeColor). This theme will be comparable to the current theme, adjusted slightly to match the expectation and execution of the Material 3 theming engine. This theme will only be used on screens that have been upgraded to the new UX.

The first conversion is the Recently used devices screen in 3.34, as seen in figures 2 and 3 above.
Mobile 3.35
ShippedMore work must be completed in preparation for the next screen redesign. We want to make sure we have our foundations in place before we expand the list of screens to be redesigned.
The next screen planned to be redesigned is the Alert settings found within account details.
Mobile 3.36
ShippedThe Alert settings screen has been redesigned and will be deployed in this release. Accountholders will notice a refreshed look – similar to the updated Recently used devices screen (released previously). This updated design for a list of items will be repeated in other (follow-up) designs, leading to a unified experience for the user.
Additionally, the creation of a new alert will be triggered with the floating action menu in the bottom right, following platform conventions. Tapping the + icon will expand the menu to show the available options.
Lastly, the creation and edit screen for an alert will be a full screen rather than the more-compact dialog that previous versions of the app used.

See the figures above to see what the freshly designed Alert settings screen will look like once 3.36 is deployed.
Mobile 3.37
ShippedWith Banno Mobile 3.37, we will look to refresh the High risk authorization flow. This updated design will only be shown from the Recently used devices screen, as all other screens will use the existing style.
The new style used for the High risk authorization flow will use the less intrusive bottom-sheet style seen in the following figures. This improvement will keep the user engaged with the current activity they are performing, all while using updated elements to bring a fresh look to the flow.

Mobile 3.38
ShippedIn Banno Mobile 3.38, we are diving into some internal work and yet-to-be released features to better understand the requirements of designs going forward. There will be no changes for the current screens, but this important work will help enable us to increase the pace at which we are updating designs for our existing screens.
Mobile 3.39
BuildingBanno Mobile 3.39 continues the foundational work started in 3.38, putting the pieces in place for the screen updates planned for Banno Mobile 3.40 and beyond. Accountholders are not expected to see meaningful changes to existing screens in this release.
Mobile 3.40
PlanningWith Banno Mobile 3.40, we are planning to bring the new Material 3 experience to the Ensenta-backed remote deposit capture screens — the screens accountholders use to deposit a check from their phone, including the Remote deposits landing screen and the details of an individual deposit.
These screens will reuse the list and detail patterns established by the Recently used devices and Alert settings redesigns, so accountholders encounter a familiar, cohesive experience as more of the app moves to the new UX.
Mobile 3.41
RadarIn Banno Mobile 3.41 and beyond, we are planning to continue updating screens, features, and flows throughout the app. We will flesh out and refine the list further in subsequent releases, communicating the expected conversion areas here.
As our engineers complete this work, we will supplement the information above with screenshots and descriptions of the new experience.
